HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – The Huntersville Fire Department is reaching out to the public asking for help after a Huntersville police officer and his family experienced a near nightmare.
Sergeant Brian Luthart’s 3-year-old son, Griffin, was seriously burned last weekend in a freak accident after a lantern exploded. Griffin was immediately flown by helicopter to Chapel Hill for treatment and has already undergone some skin-grafting surgeries.
Griffin is doing well, but the treatment and temporary housing is going to be expensive.
The Luthart family has been able to utilize the Firefighters Burned Children Fund and the Police Benevolent Foundation, but will need more help.
