UPDATE: Police have identified the suspect as 41-year-old Jimmy Estes. Estes was involved in a vehicle accident early Monday morning in South Carolina. He was transported to a hospital in Charlotte. Detectives have signed a warrant on Estes. Once he is released, he will be served with the warrant.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –Police are investigating a homicide after a woman’s body was found around 11 p.m. Sunday on the 7000 block of Buckland Road.
Police say the woman was suffering from apparent assault wounds. CMPD spoke with people in the neighborhood early Monday morning to gather more information.Β
The woman’s name will be released after her family has been notified.Β
