Man Who Tells Police He Would Get Into A ‘Shoot Out’ With Them Arrested In Lenoir

Β LENOIR, N.C. — Jonathan Hatfield, 35, was arrested Wednesday for wanted charges of larceny of a motor vehicle and communicating threats to law enforcement officers.Β 

Hatfield told officers that he would get into a ‘shoot out’ with them before he went back to jail.

Hatfield was arrested by the U.S. Marshal Service and Caldwell County Sheriff Deputies in downtown Granite Falls during a surveillance operation.Β 

Hatfield had ammunition but no gun in his possession. The stolen white GMC Terrain with N.C. plate YPY-4696, has not been recovered.Β 

Sheriff Alan Jones said, “The cooperation and availability between the United States Marshal Service and the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office worked to the benefit to the citizens of Caldwell County to be able to apprehend such a person.”
