The automotive giant donated the hybrid cars to the park to help reduce the carbon footprint of the rangers who have to drive through it β after all, it does span almost 3,500 square miles! Not only that, the Lamar Buffalo Ranch Field Campus will now be powered by Toyota hybrid batteries to increase efficiency even further!Β

Weβre pretty excited about the collaboration between Toyota and Yellowstone. Not only will our new Toyota hybrids near Charlotte be taking on mountain roads and help keep our nation beautiful, but theyβll also be put to use off the road. Like we said, our hybrid car batteries will be used to power the Lamar Buffalo Ranch Field Campus to keep the carbon footprint of the park reduced! Hereβs the scoop on how itβll work:
- N Charlotte Toyota Camry hybrid batteries will power the facility β 208 of them to be exact. Five entire buildings will be drawing power from this eco-friendly source!Β
- Solar panels and an onsite micro-hyrdo turbine system will also jump into the cause, generating renewable electricity to store in the used hybrid batteries and keeping the process clean and environmentally sensitive.Β
- This intensive process will result not only in an eco-friendly source of power for one of our nationsβ greatest national parks, but also ZERO emissionsβ¦ talk about being good to the planet! The project kicks off this fall, so weβll keep you posted on whatβs going on in the future. This isnβt the first time Toyota has teamed up with Yellowstone to lend Mother Nature a hand, though β they started donating hybrid cars to the park back in 2007, and cars like the N Charlotte Toyota Prius have been making a difference in Yellowstone ever since.Β
