CHARLOTTE, NC: Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Homicide / ADW Unit arrested 26 year old Michael Javier Zelaya for the murder of 22 year old Noel Navarro Hernandez. Previously, CMPD asked for the public’s help identifying Hernandez. Zelaya is charged with murder and is being held in the Mecklenburg County Jail.
Detectives made a positive identification on Hernandez with the help of a family member from Houston, Texas. Hernandez was shot and killed on the night of June 6 at the 6400 block of Old Pineville Road. Another man, Christian Giovanni Pena, faces charges in connection to Hernandez’s death. Pena is charged with Accessory after the Fact of a Felony.
