Toyota of N Charlotte examines NASCAR superstitionsΒ
If you were to take your new Toyota in N Charlotte out on the track, youβd definitely hear about these superstitions β theyβre pretty well-known in the NASCAR world. Letβs get started; our new Toyota dealership has the details!
- Peanut shells are a big no-no for some race car drivers. Apparently it all stems from Robert Yates, who was stuck in a major losing rut. Legend has it that he banned all peanut products from the locker room and disposed of the ones in there, and his streak was mysteriously broken that very same day with a win! Another story explaining the aversion to peanuts is that someone once sprinkled peanut shells on five racecars the day of the race, and all five of those cars ended up in a crash during the race!Β
- If you hit the Talladega track in a new Toyota Camry near Charlotte like Kyle Busch does, you might find other drivers having a big problem with the track itself β supposedly, it was built on the site of the Abhika Tribe back in the 1800βs. Its considered one of the toughest tracks around to beat, as well as one of the most dangerous β many racecar drivers have narrowly escaped injury or death there!Β
- Do you have to shave before you take your new Toyota out on the highways? If you were in NASCAR, you might not β many drivers consider facial hair to be good luck (hey, we rarely saw Dale Earnhardt without his signature mustache, right?) A lot of drivers actually refuse to shave at all on race day, citing it as bad luck for their winning streak!Β
Do you have superstitions about your new Toyota?Β
Here are just a few more quirky superstitions that we stumbled on:
- Dale Earnhardt Sr. would only leave a building from the door he entered through
- Sterling Marlin always made and ate a bologna sandwich before getting behind the wheel
- The color green is supposed to be bad luck, to the point where some drivers will refuse to drive a green car or wear green clothing when itβs race day!
- $50 bills are also supposed to be bad luck β a driver was once handed two of them just before he died in a crash, and they were found in his pocket!Β
