SONOMA, Calif. (AP) — Carl Edwards snapped Hendrick Motorsports’ five-race winning streak with his first career victory on a road course. Edwards sailed past Marcos Ambrose on a restart with 25 laps remaining to win Sunday at Sonoma Raceway.
PINEHURST, N.C. (AP) — Michelle Wie finally delivered a performance worthy of the attention heaped on her since she was a teenager. Wie bounced back from a late mistake at Pinehurst No. 2 to bury a 25-foot birdie putt on the 17th hole. That sent the 24-year-old from Hawaii to her first major championship Sunday in the U.S. Women’s Open.
EPPING, N.H. (AP) — Ron Capps raced to his first victory of the season and 41st overall, beating Alexis DeJoria in the Funny Car final Sunday in the NHRA New England Nationals. Capps had a winning run of 4.095 seconds at 315.19 mph in his Dodge Charger.
