CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Dozens of members of the North Carolina Air National Guard are being deployed Wednesday. Β The men and women are being deployed to support Operation Enduring Freedom. Β
The aircraft and personnel from the 145th Airlift Wing are based at the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. Β
According to the Air National Guard, the 145th Airlift Wing is equipped with the C-130 Hercules. Β It performs tactical portion of airlift missions. Β The aircraft is capable of operating from rough, dirt strips and is the prime transport for airdropping troops and equipment into hostile areas. Β
