Β CHARLOTTE, NC —Β Another round of airmen will leave Charlotte tomorrow to help with Operation Enduring Freedom. Β WCCB Charlotte was there as a C-130 carrying 40 members of the 145th Airlift Wing took off Wednesday in southwest Charlotte. Β They will move troops and supplies to US forces in Afghanistan. Β It’s been hard for family members to say goodbye.
“It really hurts being a mother to see your child leave and know he’s going over there in those countries where it’s not safe. Β But I thank God he’s able to go. Β And that’s a passion, that’s his passion,” said Jefferine Minyem.
Representative Robert Pittenger and the commander of the 145th, Colonel Marshall Collins, were there to send off the airmen. Β Sixty more leave on Thursday.
