DETROIT (AP)β€” Max Scherzer won his 10th game in pitching Detroit to an 8-1 victory over Tampa Bay for the AL Central-leading Tigers’ 12th win in their last 14 games. Scherzer allowed just two hits in eight innings and retired 13 straight Rays during one stretch.

LONDON (AP) β€” Eugenie Bouchard (boo-SHARD’) has made Canadian tennis history, becoming the first Canadian to reach a Grand Slam final. Bouchard will play Petra Kvitova (kuh-VIHT’-oh-vuh) Saturday for the Wimbledon title after beating third-seed Simona Halep (HA’-lehp) 7-6, 6-2.

DALLAS (AP)β€” It looks like Dirk Nowitzki (noh-VIHT’-skee) will finish his Hall of Fame career with the Dallas Mavericks, who have reached agreement on a new contract with the big center. A person with knowledge of the deal has told The Associated Press that the 36-year-old Nowitzki would get a three-year contract worth roughly $30 million.

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (AP) β€” Defending champion Jonas Blixt shot a 6-under 64 to take a one-stroke lead after the first round of the Greenbrier Classic. Patrick Rodgers, the former Stanford star playing in his third tournament as a pro, was a stroke back along with Chris Kirk, D.A. Points, James Hahn, Jason Bohn, Joe Durant, Jim Renner and Danny Lee.
