
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — David Shaw, 45, died at Carolinas Medical Center University after being shot on the 6600 block of Rumple Road around 10 p.m. Tuesday.
CMPD responded to the assault with a deadly weapon call in the University area but were unable to locate a victim or suspect. They blocked off the area and were able to locate the suspect coming out of the woods. They detained him immediately.
Police located Shaw at CMC where he was taken by one of his friends. He was pronounced dead as a result of the gunshot wounds.
Officers believe that the two men knew each other and an altercation led to the shooting.
The suspect is being interviewed by detectives. His name will be released pending any charges that are filed.
