MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Police say they arrested an Iredell County school counselor for having sex with a student. Amy Saffos, 42, was taken into custody Wednesday morning.
She is accused of sexually assaulting a student from Lake Norman High School. Investigators have charged Saffos with three counts of felony sexual activity with a student by school personnel other than a teacher, school administrator, student teacher, coach or school safety officer.
Police say the student was also assaulted in another county but additional charges have not been filed at this time. Saffos was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center and placed under a $175,000 bond.
