Police Need Help Identifying Matthews Bank Robbery Suspect

MATTHEWS, N.C. — Police are searching for a man who robbed a Matthews bank Thursday afternoon. 

The robbery happened around 4 p.m. at the SunTrust bank on West John Street.  Police say no one was injured during the robbery.  

The masked man is accused of entering the bank, displaying a handgun and taking money from a teller.  He was last seen running towards Irwin Lane and Main Street.  

The suspect was wearing a dark grey Champion hoodie with an orange vest, blue jeans, white Nike shoes and sunglasses.  Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to call 911.
