Three Men Arrested for Soliciting Sex from Minors Via Social Media

LENOIR, N.C. — Police say three men have been arrested for soliciting sex from minors via social media sites.

Investigators say the men solicited the minors online and were arrested after they arrived at a meeting place.  Instead of meeting with the victims, the suspects were greeted by police.

Brian Garrison, 29, was charged with Solicitation of a Child under 16 years of age by Electronic Device for sexual purposes and appearing at the meeting place.

Shea Andrew Tucker, 29, was charged with Solicitation of a Child under 16 years of age by Electronic Device for Sexual purposes and appearing at the meeting place and also with Disseminating Obscenity.

Carl Dean Shook was charged with Solicitation of a Child under 16 years of age by Electronic Device for sexual purposes and appearing at the meeting place and Driving While his License were Revoked. While out on bond for these charges, Shook was charged with Disseminating Obscenity to a child under the age of 13 in a separate incident.

Caldwell County Sheriff Alan C. Jones would like to remind parents to:

  • Monitor your child’s activities while they are online.
  • Know the passwords to your child’s email and social media accounts and regularly view the content.
  • Become familiar with your child’s contact list connect with your child’s phone, email account or social media accounts.
  • Review content stored on your child’s phone and personal computer such as text or photographs.
  • If your child is allowed to have a social media profile limit the amount of personal information that your child attaches to the profile.
  • Follow the guide that all information placed on a social media profile can be seen by everyone regardless of privacy settings for the account.
  • Report every incident of inappropriate conduct toward your child to Law Enforcement.
  • Become familiar the various applications that your child may be using their smart phone, tablet, or computer (Tango, Instagram, Facebook, KiK, Snapchat, MeetMe, Tagged)
  • Make use of the Parental Controls that are programmed in to many of the devices.
