Police Chase Leads To Four-Car, Six-Person Accident

 HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Police say a four-car, six-person accident on Statesville Road at Rich Hatchet Road was the result of a police chase.

Police were pulling over a man in Cornelius with warrants for his arrest when the suspect led the officers on a chase. The chase started in Cornelius, went through Iredell County and came to an end in Huntersville around 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Police say the chase lasted for 15 minutes.

The suspect is in serious condition. The condition of the others involved in the accident has been updated to non-life threatening.

One person was flown by helicopter to CMC-Main and four others were taken by Medic. Crews shut down Highway 21 in both directions.

A witness said that when she walked out of her house, she saw police with their guns drawn walking toward a vehicle. The suspect’s vehicle is a gunmetal-gray Infiniti.

The scene is still under investigation by Cornelius and Huntersville police. No names or charges have been released.
