
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Investigators determined that a four-year-old ignited the fire that spread through a North Charlotte apartment in a bedroom closet. The damage is estimated to be $150,000.
The apartment fire at 2721 Bellefonte Dr. displaced 14 people around midnight Saturday.
The American Red Cross is providing alternate housing for the two families. The first family includes two adults and four children and the second family has two adults and six children.
It took 48 firefighters just under 30 minutes to control the fire.
No one was injured. How the child started the fire has not been released.
