Hours after Israel agreed to an Egyptian peace deal, Hamas militants fired more than 40 rockets into Israel. Β One rocket hit an empty school. Β Officials say an Israeli civilian was killed when he was hit by a mortar shell.Β
“The content basically ignored all of Hamas’ key demands and reiterated everything in the previous cease-fire from two years ago,” said Khaled Elgindy, former Adviser to Palestinian Authority.
Israel quickly retaliated to Hamas attacks, targeting suspected ammunition sites. Β Officials warned citizens in the northern part of Gaza to get out, possibly in preparation for a larger attack.
