Huntersville Plastic Surgeon Faces Charges of Unprofessional Conduct

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — A plastic surgeon in Huntersvile faces the N.C. Medical Board for providing insufficient care to three patients.

In April 2013, a facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Gustavo Diaz, was charged with unprofessional conduct by medical board after sedating two patients without sufficient monitoring and for performing surgeries not appropraite for the care they were seeking.

The board also recieved a complaint regarding a patient who was found unresponsive by a family member the day after Diaz performed facelift.

An medical examiner found that Diaz did not examine the patient’s heart and lungs or look over their medical history before the surgery.

  Diaz also neglected to monitor the patient during the surgery and failed to check the vital signs prior to discharge.
