JOLIET, Ill. (AP) β€” Chase Elliott held off Trevor Bayne to win the Nationwide Series stop at Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday night. Elliott had a strong car all day long for JR Motorsports, qualifying third and leading the most laps during the race. Bayne tried to chase him down on fresh tires in the final laps, but ran out of time. It was Elliott’s third victory of the year, following wins at Texas and Darlington.

Four-time Olympic gold medalist Lisa Leslie headlines the 2015 women’s basketball Hall of Fame induction class announced Saturday. She is joined by former Houston Comets star Janeth Arcain, University of Georgia standout Janet Harris, former Duke coach Gail Goestenkors, longtime Oregon high school coach Brad Smith and Oklahoma State coach Kurt Budke, who was killed in a plane crash in 2011.

HOYLAKE, England (AP) β€” Rory McIlroy put a stranglehold on his third major championship with a 4-under 68 Saturday, heading to the final round of the British Open with a six-shot lead. McIlroy gave up the four-shot lead he had at the beginning of the day, falling into a tie for the top spot when Rickie Fowler birdied seven of the first 12 holes. But, in a lightning-quick turnaround, McIlroy rolled in a 35-foot birdie at the 14th and an eagle at the 16th. Fowler bogeyed both holes, suddenly falling back.

WASHINGTON (AP) β€” The Washington Wizards have acquired forward Kris Humphries from the Boston Celtics for a protected 2015 second-round draft pick. Humphries appeared in 69 games, averaging 8.4 points and 5.9 rebounds, last season with Boston. In 10 seasons with the Jazz, Raptors, Mavericks, Nets and Celtics, he is averaging 6.8 points and 5.5 rebounds.
