CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Lola Porter, 22, was charged with DWI after crashing into a tree that killed passenger, 43-year-old Christopher Turner around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
A nearby resident heard the wreck and called police. Turner was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic.
Porter suffered serious injuries and was taken to CMC Main.
Police say Porter was driving a 2007 BMW M6 westbound on Brown Grier Road when she rounded the curve between Gallant Lane and Griers Fork Drive. Turner lost control of the car, ran airborne off the road and smashed into a tree.
Porter was also charged with driving while license revoked. CMPD says further charges will be filed in reference to the accident.
The crash is still under investigation.
