NEW YORK, NY–A security breach at the Brooklyn Bridge has left people puzzled, after someone replaced the American flags on top of the bridge with bleached flags.
Police are looking for a group of people who were caught on video near the bridge last night.
White flags are typically used as a sign of surrender but reasons as to why someone would do this is still unknown.
Talks that the incident could be linked to terrorist activity have been circulating, NY deputy commissioner for intelligence and counter terrorism, John Miller, “At this time, it appears (the act) has no particular nexus to terrorism,” Miller said. “This may be somebody’s art project, or may be an attempt to make some kind of statement. But it’s not clear what that statement is,” says Miller.
Miller also told the media, security video showed multiple people climbing the bridge shortly after 3 a.m., he added that aluminum pans were most likely used to cover the lights that usually shine on the flag.
