UNION COUNTY, NC — School redistricting in Union County is moving forward. Wednesday, a judge threw out the injunction filed by upset parents who wanted to stop the process. Those parents argued the school board violated open-meeting laws and moved redistricting lines after a vote.
Judge Lucy Inman ruled the board made good faith efforts to comply with state public records and open meeting laws. Parents are still considering their next move.
“We will more than likely be dropping the lawsuit and just helping the individual parents corporally. If we can’t do this, the next thing to do is help those who need help.”
The parents’ request for a temporary restraining order was also denied back in March. Judge Inman suggested the redistricting issue is better resolved at the ballot box instead of a courtroom.
