ATLANTA (AP)β The Miami Marlins scored a run in the ninth off Braves closer Craig Kimbrel, who uncorked two wild pitches in the inning leading to Miami’s 3-2 victory. The Marlins took three of four from Atlanta, which dropped a game and a-half back of NL East-leading Washington.
CLEVELAND (AP) β Andrew Wiggins has an NBA home, for at least 30 days. The Cavaliers signed the No. 1 overall draft pick in a deal that prevents Wiggins from being traded for 30 days. Wiggins has been linked to a possible blockbuster trade with Minnesota for All-Star forward Kevin Love. But any deal now involving Wiggins can’t be finalized for at least 30 days.
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) β Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice will miss the season opener against AFC North champion Cincinnati on Sept. 7 and the Sept. 11 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rice received a two-game suspension from the NFL following his offseason arrest for domestic violence.
