KANSAS CITY (AP) β€” Nori Aoki (a-OH’-kee) singled home Lorenzo Cain in the 14th inning to lift the Kansas City Royals to a 2-1 marathon win over Cleveland. Indians starter Corey Kluber (KLOO’-bur) had a perfect game bid broken up with a one-out single in the seventh inning by Omar Infante (in-fahn-TAY’).

ATLANTA (AP)β€” The Miami Marlins scored a run in the ninth off Braves closer Craig Kimbrel, who uncorked two wild pitches in the inning leading to Miami’s 3-2 victory. The Marlins took three of four from Atlanta, which dropped a game and a-half back of NL East-leading Washington.

CLEVELAND (AP) β€” Andrew Wiggins has an NBA home, for at least 30 days. The Cavaliers signed the No. 1 overall draft pick in a deal that prevents Wiggins from being traded for 30 days. Wiggins has been linked to a possible blockbuster trade with Minnesota for All-Star forward Kevin Love. But any deal now involving Wiggins can’t be finalized for at least 30 days.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) β€” Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice will miss the season opener against AFC North champion Cincinnati on Sept. 7 and the Sept. 11 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rice received a two-game suspension from the NFL following his offseason arrest for domestic violence.

MONTREAL (AP)β€” Michael Putnam and Tim Petrovic (peh-TROH’-vihk) start the day tied for the top spot entering the second round of the Canadian Open at Royal Montreal Golf Club after shooting 6-under 64 yesterday. Amateur Taylor Pendrith and Kyle Stanley are one shot back.
