ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — Police arrested several sex offenders during a sex offender compliance operation in Alexander and Iredell Counties. Β
Officers visited the homes of 84 sex offenders between July 23-24th. Β As a result of the investigation, 18 different sex offenders were charged with not being in compliance with their court orders since becoming sex offenders. Β
One suspect was charged with possessing a weapon of mass destruction. Β Five suspects were arrested for possessing firearms as felons. Β Nine suspects were issued warrants for their arrest for failing to notify authorities about a change in address. Β
Police also confiscated two computers, several firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, one cell phone, various pornographic materials, cocaine and marijuana. Β
