DENVER, N.C. — The body of a drowning victim at Lake Norman has been located just several feet away from where she was last seen.
Lincoln County dispatch received a call at 4:15 p.m. from a resident about a possible drowning victim. The caller stated that he and the 36-year-old female were swimming when he left and went inside the home. When he returned the woman was missing.
Authorities say Elisabeth Burford’s body was pulled from the water around 6:40 p.m. several feet from the end of the pier.
