Charlotte Woman Facing Charges In Fatal Accident

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte woman is facing charges in reference to a wreck that killed her passenger.

Lola Porter was released from the hospital Tuesday and formally charged with felony death by vehicle, reckless driving, driving while impaired and driving while license revoked.

Police say she was driving a BMW on July 22nd on Brown-Grier Road when she lost control and crashed into a tree.  Her passenger, Christopher Turner, was pronounced dead on the scene.  She was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries after the crash.

Police determined that speed and alcohol were factors in the accident.  Police say Porter also had two outstanding warrants for her arrest in Cabarrus County.
