CHARLOTTE, NC — The Ebola outbreak in west Africa has Samaritan’s Purse and a Charlotte-based medical missionary group evacuating non-essential personnel from Liberia.
Charlotte missionary Nancy Writebol from SIM USA tested positive for Ebola over the weekend. She is in stable condition Tuesday night. There have been more than 1,200 confirmed Ebola cases in Africa this year; 672 people have died.
“It’s such a growing wave of infection for Ebola, that actually has been growing now only, for a few weeks, and it’s creating… it’s at such a level.” said SIM USA President Bruce Johnson.
The Ebola virus spreads through direct contact with bodily fluids or infected animals. Calvary Church will hold a prayer service for Nancy Writebol Wednesday night at 6:30pm. A Texas doctor who works with Samaritan’s Purse also has Ebola. He’s in stable condition.
