Four Exposed To Rabid Bat In Rock Hill

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — Four people were referred to health care providers after being exposed to a rabid bat in the Rock Hill area.

According to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control’s Bureau of Environmental Health Services, nearly 275 South Carolinians undergo preventative treatment for rabies each year.

If you think you have been exposed to the rabies virus through a bite or saliva, health officials say to wash the area immediately with soap and water.

There have been 75 confirmed rabies cases statewide this year. There were 124 cases in S.C. last year.
