GASTONIA, N.C. — A 72-year-old man died after colliding with a tractor trailer truck on Bessemer City and Oates Road just before 3 a.m. Thursday.
The driver of the tractor trailer, 48-year-old Richard Curley was making a left turn onto Bessemer City Road when William Ledwell, 72, struck the tractor trailer in a 2009 Toyota Rav 4.
Ledwell died at the scene. Investigators say he was speeding before crashing into the truck.
