CHARLOTTE, NC — A patient who recently traveled to Africa caused a health scare at Carolinas Medical Center in Elizabeth.
A man who reportedly had a fever showed up in the emergency room Tuesday night. CMC blocked off part of the ER for about six hours. Doctors later determined the patient did not have Ebola.
“Similar precautions may go into place if we had a patient for high suspicion of MERS, for exposure for a bio-terrorism agent that could potentially be transmitted to other people,” said CMC Infections Disease Specialist Dr. Katie Passaretti.
There’s no word what the patient ended up being diagnosed with, but he has been discharged.
