LINCOLNTON, N.C. — Kelan Brown, 29, was arrested Thursday after a six-month long drug investigation.
Brown from Shelby, N.C. was charged with felony possession of cocaine, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for a controlled substance and speeding to elude arrest.
Investigators received information on their drug tip line that a man from another county was going to an apartment complex on Gaston Street and collect drug orders. He would then meet the buyers at an area business parking lot and complete the deal.
Officers set up surveillance on Brown and waited for him to leave the residence since he did not have a valid drivers license.
Officers attempted to stop Brown in an unmarked car but Brown sped away, crashed into a fence and attempted to run away. During the escape, Brown dropped a bag of cocaine.
Police were able to catch Brown. He was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under $18,000 secured bond.
