GASTON COUNTY, NC — The wife of the ex-high school wrestling coach on trial for sex crimes against kids took the stand Thursday.  Angela Goins has been married to Gary “Scott” Goins for 14 years.

He used to work at East Gaston High School.  He faces nearly two-dozen sex charges involving students at that school.  Angela took the stand toward the end of the day and only spoke for a few minutes, mainly about family life.

“You started dating after you graduated high school?” asked the attorney.  “Yes,” answered Angela.  The attorney then asked, “You have any kids?”  “Yes, we have four,” she replied.  “And how did you come to have four kids?” he asked.  Goins answered, “We adopted three of the girls, and we had our son in January.”

Angela will take the stand again when the trial resumes Friday.  Three former wrestlers say Scott Goins touched them inappropriately and forced them to perform sex acts.  He denies the accusations.
