Waiting Child: Ashley

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- This week’s Waiting Child is all about music, love and family.  She’s a talented young lady looking for a family to call her own.

“I sing for a living that’s what I do.  I’m all about singing. You hear me in the shower, in my bedroom, every where I go I’m singing.”

Ashley is musically talented.  She’s doesn’t even get shy singing in front of strangers, “It feels like I’m on top of the world. I can be who I want to be on that stage.”

She says she has an ear for music and can play almost anything. Today she was showcasing her talents on the guitar and drums, “I’m happy, sitting there in my musical situation and I’m like free from anything.”

Ashley is 16 years old with a runway model height of 5 feet 11, “Oh I have my own walk” she says.

She’s deciding between becoming a singer or a model when she gets older, “I love putting on make up and being in the spot light and then again, I’m good at fashion and designing anything.”

Ashley really wants a family, but she says she doesn’t get her hopes up too much anymore, “I don’t ask anything out of a family except for love and caring and the necessities.”

One time a group leader expressed love for her as a father would a child. She tells me this was her first glimpse of what it feels like to be  loved, “That was the first time I heard it come out of someone’s mouth that they actually loved me.”
