BCC Rally, an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that raises funds and awareness to fight breast cancer, will host its 11th annual weeklong series of fundraising events from Sept. 21-27 at Ballantyne Country Club, featuring a new event called Denim & Diamonds to culminate the week.

Ladies’ Tennis and Luncheon, Friday, Sept. 26, 8:45 a.m. Ballantyne Country Club is the event’s founding sponsor. The format will be a clinic led by area tennis professionals. Guest speakers will be Natalie Corrigan, a breast cancer survivor, and Jill Voso of The Village YMCA, who will discuss the benefits of Pilates for tennis players.

Silent auction items will be available.

Proceeds from all events go to the national Rally for the Cure® to support Susan G. Komen®.

“We strive to keep our events fresh and fun for participants, while always focusing on the need to enhance awareness and raise funds for breast cancer,” said Sue Dockstader, BCC Rally president.

Fees are: Ladies’ Golf and Luncheon, $85 for both and $60 for the luncheon only; Men’s Golf, $125; Ladies’ Tennis and Luncheon, $70 for both and $45 for the luncheon only; Denim & Diamonds, $125 through Aug. 31, then $150. BCC Rally enters its primary fundraising season coming off a history-making 10th anniversary in 2013. Last year, Komen Charlotte presented BCC Rally with the prestigious Susan G. Komen Lifetime Pink Ribbon Circle Award for surpassing $1 million in total contributions. BCC Rally was the first (and still only) Rally for the Cure® in the country to achieve this significant milestone. In addition, through both its events and sales of custom pink bows from its year-round Pink Bow Campaign, BCC Rally raised a record $220,000, reinforcing its distinction as the largest Rally organization in the U.S. since 2008 and Komen Charlotte’s single largest donor.

Of the monies BCC Rally raises for Komen, 75% directly benefits Charlotte and the 13 surrounding counties in Komen Charlotte’s service area. The remaining 25% supports breast cancer research through the national Susan G. Komen®, and its grants currently support important research at UNC-Charlotte, Wake Forest, UNC-Chapel Hill, and Duke Universities.

In 2008, BCC Rally established the Pink Bow Campaign to sell custom-designed pink bows for businesses, schools, neighborhoods, churches, other nonprofits, and community groups to “pink up” their surroundings and their own breast cancer fundraisers in a show of support for the cause. Since then, the Pink Bow Campaign has generated $239,000. Buy your pink bow here.

About BCC Rally
BCC Rally in Charlotte, NC, brings together women, men, and children to raise awareness about breast cancer and offers financial support for Rally for the Cure® to benefit Susan G. Komen®. Having raised more than $1 million since its founding in 2004, the all-volunteer nonprofit holds the distinction of being the most successful fundraising organization in the national Rally for the Cure® program since 2008, and the single largest donor to Komen Charlotte. In 2004, a group of women who belonged to Ballantyne Country Club held a golf tournament and raised $1,000 from a small raffle, which they gave to Komen. From those humble beginnings, BCC Rally now annually hosts a week of fundraising events in September – Ladies’ Golf and Luncheon; Men’s Golf; Ladies’ Tennis Clinic and Luncheon; Denim & Diamonds; and Walk and Wag Pink-a-thon. BCC Rally’s Pink Bow Campaign sells custom bows worldwide for businesses, neighborhoods, schools, churches, other nonprofits, and community groups to “pink up” in a show of support for the cause.
