CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) β Clemson receiver Seth Ryan, the son of New York Jets coach Rex Ryan, broke his collarbone at practice Monday. The school said Ryan was making a diving coach in the end zone when he got hurt. Ryan is a redshirt freshman who sat out last season.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) β Jamey Chadwell hopes the lights stay on at Charleston Southern for quite some time. Chadwell roused the long-dormant Buccaneers to a 10-3 mark in his debut coaching season, its first winning campaign in four years. Charleston Southern had the Football Championship Subdivision’s longest losing streak between the end of the 2010 and middle of the 2012 seasons.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) β It’s been a strong start for coach Joe Moglia at Coastal Carolina, with two Big South Conference titles and a pair of NCAA playoff appearances in his first two years. Now, Moglia wants the Chanticleers to think even bigger in year three.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) β Panthers franchise player Greg Hardy entered a not guilty plea at an arraignment hearing and his jury trial has been set for Nov. 17, according to his attorney Chris Fialko. The Pro Bowl defensive end is appealing a July 15 conviction on misdemeanor charges of assaulting a female and communicating threats.
