Israel and Hamas Agree on 72-Hour Cease Fire

JERUSALEM —Β Israel and Hamas are just a few hours away from the beginning of a 72-hour cease fire.

The truce comes after two deadly attacks in Jerusalem. Β A pedestrian was killed when a man used a bulldozer to flip over a city bus. Β A soldier was also killed.

In Gaza, Palestinians are cleaning up after Israeli soldiers struck a refugee camp. Β An eight-year-old girl died and dozens of children were injured.

“More than 1,800 Palestinians have been killed. Β Eighty percentΒ of them are civilians. Β Those who have committed these crimes should be held responsible,” said Riyad Mansour, Palestinian Ambassador to the U.N.

Israeli forces are winding down their ground operation in Gaza. Β Israel’s prime minister says the mission won’t be over until all of Hamas’ underground tunnels are destroyed.
