
STATESVILLE, N.C. — The parents of a infant who died after being left in a hot car in Statesville are facing charges. Β
Sherrie Clay and Shakee Robinson were arrested Monday. Β Both have been charged with involuntary manslaughter and felony child abuse. Β
Investigators say the 4-week old child was left inside a hot car for nearly two hours. Β The child was found in the car by his aunt. Β
He was rushed to the hospital but died from his injuries. Β Detectives say the infant died from hyperthermia. Β
The couple’s other children were placed in the custody of the Department of Social Services. Β
