CHARLOTTE, NC — Law enforcement and the DA’s office building trust in the Hidden Valley Neighborhood. CMPD officers joined Mecklenburg District Attorney Andrew Murray for a National Night Out Block Party.
The community is battling a bad crime reputation. Residents say increased police presence and neighborhood watch groups are making it safer.
“When you are a witness we need you to come to court, we need you to report it to the police. We need you to report, and with us and with law enforcement we can make a difference in the community,” said Murray.
A CMPD injunction to keep the Hidden Valley Kings gang out of the neighborhood expires this month. Police consider the gang a public nuisance. The DA tells WCCB Charlotte he will support renewal.
