CHARLOTTE, NC — One North Carolina university is taking extra precautions to keep you safe in the future.

UNC Charlotte conducted an emergency response simulation at Jerry Richardson Stadium Wednesday afternoon.  The exercise allowed university officials to prepare for the possibility of a bomb threat during a crowded football game.  The stadium holds more than 15,000 spectators.

“Although incidences like this are rare at sporting events, it’s something that we would want to work through and understand the logistics of it as we work through the table-top exercise,” said UNC Charlotte Chief of Police Jeffrey Baker.

The Charlotte Fire Department, CMPD bomb squads and K-9 units helped pull off Wednesday’s drill.
