Β CLEVELAND COUNTY, SC —Β Neighbors comforted each other Friday night after a murder-suicide in Cleveland County. Β Police say a man shot and killed his ailing wife, called 911, and then killed himself.
It happened around 10 o’clock Friday morning at a home on Midway Avenue near Shelby. Β Police say there was no history of domestic violence. Β Neighbors we spoke to described it as a mercy killing.
“I think it ended exactly like she wanted it and like he wanted it. Β They wanted to be together,” said Shelby resident Mary Lou Smith.
Neighbors say the husband quit his job to take care of his home-bound wife. Β Police have not released the name of the couple.
