Suspect Accused Of Shooting Two Officers Identified, In Custody

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Brandon Brewer was taken into custody after two officers were shot near Kingville Drive and Tom Hunter Road just after 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

CMPD Officers Kevin Stafford of nearly three years and Eric Bojaj of four years were shot with gunshot pellets. Chief Rodney Monroe says the two are in good condition.

A 10-year-old girl was also shot and has minor injuries.

A woman called 911 and said that her boyfriend was trying to attack her. Officers arrived but couldn’t locate the woman.

A neighbor of the suspect called police to report a man was in the street shooting a shotgun. Police arrived and that’s when Brewer shot them. Multiple police units arrived on scene along with SWAT.

Brewer surrendered to SWAT around 4:45 p.m. after barricading himself inside a home.

Brewer has a criminal history that includes arrests for felony robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault on a female.
