MONROE, N.C. – Police have confirmed one person has died after an accident in Union County. The accident happened just after 9 p.m. near Bob Mayberry Hyundai on U.S. Highway 74. Authorities say Jose Herrera was traveling west on Highway 74 and crossed over into the east bound lane. Herrera hit a vehicle head on causing the vehicle to collide with a tractor trailer.
Police have confirmed that the deceased victim is a 70-year-old woman from Marshville. The woman’s husband was transported to a local hospital. Monroe Police say charges are pending. We have a crew at the scene and will bring you the latest as details become available.
