CHARLOTTE, NC — Johnson C. Smith University students held a rally Friday to remember Michael Brown.  They made signs and listened to speakers.  Students also held a moment of silence for Jonathan Ferrel, who was shot and killed by CMPD Officer Wes Kerrick last September.

“We just hope that our student body can just be more aware of the issues and not, sort of, be ignorant and think that we’re invincible to the things that affect us out in this society,” said said Johnson C. Smith student Dineo Seakamela.

Ferrell planned to attend JCSU at the time of his death and was working two jobs to pay for tuition.
