CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A West Charlotte High School student was critically injured after she was struck by a vehicle Monday afternoon. Β
The accident happened on Beatties Ford Road near Hildebrand Street. Β Police say Jennifer Tejeda, 16, was attempting to cross Beatties Ford Road when she ran across the roadway. Β
A truck with a trailer slowed to avoid striking Tejeda. Β Investigators say the truck obstructed the view of the vehicle that actually struck the teen. Β
Tejeda was found unresponsive and was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center where she is in critical condition. Β
Police say a marked crosswalk with caution signals is located 96 feet from the location where the teen was crossing the street. Β Police say the drivers involved were not speeding or impaired.
