CAMBRIDGE, MA — A U.S. journalist held captive for nearly two years is back in America and says he’s overwhelmed with emotion.
Islamic militants in Syria released 45-year-old Peter Theo Curtis over the weekend. He says he had no way of knowing that so many people were praying for his homecoming.
“Total strangers are coming up saying, ‘Glad you’re home, glad you’re back, glad you’re safe, glad to see you…” he said.
Law enforcement sources say the U.S. was not involved in negotiations to free Curtis, but was aware of the private efforts to secure the release.
