UNDATED (AP) β€” There are three top-25 college football games coming up tonight. Number-nine South Carolina takes on number-21 Texas A&M, number-18 Mississippi meets Boise State in Atlanta and 19th-rated Arizona State faces Weber State.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) β€” North Carolina coach Larry Fedora has announced the team has suspended four players for this weekend’s season opener, a day after a report of an alleged hazing fight that left a redshirt freshman walk-on receiver with a possible concussion. Fedora said the four players were suspended for a “violation of team policy,” but offered no other details about what rules were broken.

DETROIT (AP) β€” There’s one day game in the American League, with the New York Yankees at Detroit. The Yankees start the day six games behind Baltimore in the East while the Tigers sit two and a-half games behind first place Kansas City in the AL Central.

LOS ANGELES (AP) β€” Doc Rivers is staying with the Los Angeles Clippers for another five years. In Steve Ballmer’s first big move since taking over as the new owner, he gave Rivers a contract extension through the 2018-19 season.
