IRAQ – According Iraqi State TV, U.S. airstrikes have helped break an ISIS siege in Iraq. One air attack near the Mosul Dam on Sunday destoryed an armed vehicle. Another strike near the Shiite-Turkman town of Amerli damaged a militant tank where the ethnic minority is facing massacre from ISIS.
The U.S. also air dropped humanitarian aid to Amerli as residents have been without power and faced severe food and water shortages.
According to the U.N., following the strikes Iraqi security forces entered the town and broke the ISIS seige according to Iraqi State TV.
Friday British Prime Minister David Cameron announced the U.K. would raise its terror threat level to “severe.”
At home, President Obama is facing criticism that the U.S. doesn’t have a plan to combat ISIS in Syria. House Secretary Josh Earnest says that plan is still being developed.
There have been 120 strikes against ISIS in Iraq since the U.S. began employing airstrikes in August. No U.S. airstrikes in Syria have been authorized yet.
