ROCHESTER, MN – An experimental cancer treatment is making medical history at the Mayo Clinic. After enduring the ten most difficult years of her life, Stacy Erholtz can’t stop smiling about the medical miracle that has given her a second chance at life.
A highly concentrated dose of the measles virus put Stacy’s cancer into remission. That dose was enough to vaccinate 10 million people.
This fall she will talk about her treatment known as virotherapy and whether or not it can be applied to other types of cancer.
It has been over a year since Stacy had the treatment. She will have to get tested for the rest of her life to make sure the cancer doesn’t return.
