CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officials say another SIM missionary doctor has tested positive for Ebola. Β SIM USA says the American doctor was not treating Ebola patients but was instead treating obstetrics patients in Monrovia. Β The Ebola isolation unit was in a separate area of the ELWA hospital. Β
Officials do not know at this time how the doctor contracted the virus. Β SIM says the doctor immediately isolated himself and has been transferred to the Ebola isolation unit. Β Authorities say he is doing well and is in good spirits. Β
This is the third American to contract the virus. Β Nancy Writebol and Dr. Ken Brantly were flown to America and treated for the virus at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Β Both were discharged from the hospital after testing negative for the virus last month. Β
