Infant, Woman Critically Injured In Northeast Charlotte Wreck

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating a wreck that critically injured an infant and a woman in northeast Charlotte Monday morning. Β 

Detectives say Dequira Fleming was driving a Honda Accord on Rocky River Road when she crossed the double-yellow line and struck a Volkswagen Jetta head-on. Β 

Police say the infant was in a child booster seat inside Fleming’s car but investigators say the seat was not appropriate for the child’s age and weight. Β 

The child and the driver of the Jetta were taken to a local hospital via an ambulance. Β However, Fleming was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center. Β 

No charges have been filed at this time. Β Police are asking for witnesses to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
